New ICM Poll – Tory Lead Down to 10%

icm

There is a new ICM poll reported tonight for tomorrow’s Guardian showing a reduced 10% Conservative lead. As was pointed out the weekend poll was from ICM’s sister company and not ICM itself. I have therefore compared tonight’s poll with the last true ICM poll as the methodologies should be comparable:

            Conservative          40% (down 4%)

            Labour                       30% (down 1%)

            Lib Dem                    19% (up 1%)

Whilst a 10% lead is still comfortable, it is surprising that a major pollster has the Conservative lead DOWN on last month, after the last week or so of disastrous news for Labour. Changes in party ratings rarely happen consistently across polling organisations and one persons rogue poll is another’s trend. However, ICM are a reputable pollster and it will be interesting to see how the next few polls come out.

UPDATE: UK Polling Report has this assessment of the poll.

Britain’s Got Talent – Star Acts

britains-got-talent1I have to admit to being a great fan of programmes like “X-Factor”, “American Idol” and “America’s Got Talent” but this season of “Britain’s Got Talent” has already produced some amazing new talent.

Susan Boyle has already received much deserved praise for her unanticipated performance from Les Miserables.

The YouTube clip has now had almost 31 million viewings:

However, another stunning act that has so far not received the same level of recognition was the all black dance group “Flawless”. They lived up to their name and were simply stunning. Watch them here:

I am sure there is more to come but this season of “Britain’s Got Talent” has got off to a flying start.
