New YouGov Poll – Labour Retain a Small Lead

The first opinion poll of 2011 has been published showing Labour retaining a small lead over the Conservatives (although both parties’ shares are unchanged. The Lib Dems are down 1% to 8%:

                Conservative 40% (no change)

                Labour 42% (no change)

                                                 Lib Dem 8% (down 1%)

This is a YouGov poll in the Sun. The Government’s approval rating remains at minus 19% (33% approve and 52% disapprove).

Changes shown are compared to the last daily YouGov poll I reported on 21 December.

Reading Station Works – Caversham Road Bridge

I am pleased to report that the replacement of the Caversham Road rail bridge went very well and the road was re-opened ahead of schedule. This scheme has been a close partnership with Reading Borough Council and it is great that Network Rail were able to complete all the work they needed to, get the road re-opened and trains running in time for the return to work today. I have received several messages of congratulations but the bulk of the credit must go to Network Rail and their contractors.

There is a fabulous time lapse film of the bridge works on YouTube which highlights the huge scale of what was achieved. Enjoy!
