New Populus Poll – Tories on 40%

There is a new Populus poll reported in today’s Times which partially reverses last month’s big jump in the Conservative lead:

            Conservative              40% (down 1%)

            Labour                       30% (up 2%)

                                                           Lib Dem                     20% (up 1%)

The Labour and Lib Dem changes are a complete reversal of last month but the Conservative change is 1% down after a 3% rise. Interestingly just when I thought the fixed central point of the polls may have moved from 40/30/18, we have another poll that is almost bang on that position. For those who have rushed to predict a “snap April election” this poll will give pause for thought.

Let’s see what the next few polls show before getting too excited either way.
