New YouGov London Poll – Tories Set for Big Gains Across the Capital

There is a new YouGov poll in tonight’s London Evening Standard newspaper showing voting intentions across the capital. Changes shown are compared to the 2005 election result in London:

            Conservative              39% (up 7%)

            Labour                       35% (down 4%)

                                          Lib Dem                     17% (down 5%)

The newspaper suggests that on a uniform swing the Conservatives would gain a dozen seats from the other parties, including 3 from the Lib Dems (and the seat I contested last time of Sutton and Cheam). This is probably a conservative estimate, as a number of surveys have suggested that the Conservatives are doing better than average in their target seats.

  1. This is NOT a new poll but an aggregation of the London subsamples fron the Yougov/Sun-ST daily polls whixh for some reason the results of which you do not see fit to publish .
Out of interest the last 8 of these subsamples are
    Con/Lab/LibDem
    47-26-16
    39-29-21
    43-32-14
    29-39-22
    39-30-24
    47-29-14
    39-30-18
    36-35-22
    Con range 29-47 Lab 26-39 LD 14-24
Not really enlightening as to the real figures
FWIW the average is Con 40 Lab 31.2 LD 19
