Parliamentary Nominations in Reading (East and West)

The nominations have closed for the General Election in Reading and the following persons have been nominated for each constituency:

Reading East

DODDS Anneliese Jane (80 Belmont Road, Reading RG30 2UU) – The Labour Party Candidate

EPPS Gareth Daniel (12 St John’s Road, Reading RG1 4EB) – Liberal Democrats

LLOYD Joan Rose (18 Silverthorne Drive, Caversham, Reading RG4 7NS) – Independent

PITFIELD Adrian Bruce William (19 Milton Grove, Bletchley, Milton Keynes MK3 5BJ) – UK Independence Party

TURBERVILLE Michael Jeffrey (15 Eastview Place, East Street, Reading RG1 4AW) – Independent

WHITE Rob (22 Cumberland Road, Reading RG1 3LB) – The Green Party

WILSON Rob (12 Oakley Road, Caversham, Reading RG4 7RL) – The Conservative Party Candidate

Reading West

BENSON Daisy (11 Somerstown Court, Reading RG1 7TY) – Liberal Democrats

HAY Bruce Alexander (36 Worcester Drive, Didcot, Oxon OX11 8UR) – UK Independence Party

SARKAR Naz (9 Dunleary Court, Westcote Road, Reading RG30 2DJ) – The Labour Party Candidate

SHARMA Alok (Maplecroft, Upper Warren Ave, Reading RG4 7EB) – The Conservative Party Candidate

THOMAS Howard (90 Stone Street, Reading RG30 1HU) – Common Sense Party

WINDISCH Adrian (29 Erleigh Court Gardens, Earley, Reading RG6 1EJ) – The Green Party

So we have two UKIP candidates who would probably struggle to find their way to Reading without a map! One from Didcot and one from Milton Keynes.  It also seems that Labour’s Naz Sarkar has finally abandoned his constituents in Waltham Forest and has got himself an address in Reading. I just hope his journey to work doesn’t involve the IDR!

However, the most curious case is that of Daisy Benson. A few weeks ago when she submitted her nomination for Redlands ward she declared herself as living at 12 St John’s Road in central Reading (Reading East constituency). Now she has declared that she actually lives at 11 Somerstown Court, Tilehurst Road, also in Reading East but a lot closer to Reading West. She cannot be living at both addresses at once and she is only legally allowed to register to vote at one address in the Borough, which should be her primary residence.

Gareth Epps however, seems now to have decided that he is standing for the Reading East constituency after all!

  1. A case of 2nd home syndrome for Daisy I guess ……probably getting too carried away with the polls !
As for Naz, I suspect that he will never be heard of in Reading again after May 6th. If Labour wanted to find a poor candidate ,could someone please forward him a suitable map so that he can find his way out of Reading on the 7th.
( must have IDR well marked!)

  2. You helpfully gave candidates websites, but what sort of link was that for Naz? Some might think you don’t have any respect for him.

While the IDR thing was funny, every human makes mistakes. I prefer to move on a bit. There is plenty of other things he says that we can disagree with.

You should have seen Naz at last nights FSB hustings, like a rabbit in the spotlights. Three times he said ‘the devil is in the detail’, the audience challenged him and he struggled to answer. Will blog about it shortly.

Naz website not updated for a week, but it does have a nice map for lost PPCs.
