New YouGov Poll – Labour Lead Halves to 4%

There is a new YouGov poll out tonight for tomorrow’s Sun newspaper showing the Labour lead cut to 4%:

                   Conservative               36% (up 2%)

                   Labour                         40% (down 2%)

                                                     Lib Dem                         9% (up 1%)

                                                     UKIP                              6% (no change)

After a couple of weeks of Labour leads between 8 and 10% it is good to see the return of the pre-budget level of Labour lead. As usual a note of caution: we will need to see if this is a trend or just a one off.

After one very dodgy ComRes poll finding UKIP at 11%, this poll shows them unchanged on 6%, still close on the tails of the Lib Dems.

Changes shown are compared to the last YouGov poll I covered on 3 April.

  1. UKIP’s intevention only in Tilehurst will not achieve much in Reading except perhaps to take sufficient votes from the Conservative to prevent the Lib-Dems from losing the seat the way the did last year. I was surprised that they chose Tilehurst rather than some of the wards North of the Thames such as your own Peppard where there is “a little local difficulty” this time or even Caversham.
